Our complete courses

Flights beyond visual Line-of-sight (BVLOS)

You will fly an RPAS for nearly 20 km in the airspace of the greater Montreal area. Our school offers you a complete training.

Be among the first to be able to legally and safely fly a drone according to the rules governing flights beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS). Dronetechnic offers you the means to carry your personal training as a drone pilot, where practically no one has yet gone.

With just a few dozen pilots qualified in Canada to operate a drone beyond visual line-of-sight, you can become part of this elite group and conduct such operations, or you can be among some of the first to develop your own business in this still virtually untapped market.

Our five-star DRONES PILOT IN BVLOS TRAINING – the first in the country – qualifies you to occupy all the positions of a BVLOS crew, namely :

We prepare you to carry out in a safe, efficient and above all legal way :

      • GCS Operator (Pilot-in-command)
      • Copilot
      • External Pilot (Safety Pilot)
      • Payload Operator
      • Visual Observer Detect and Avoid (VODAA)
      • Aerial inspection
      • Aerial surveillance
      • Search and Rescue Mission
      • Drone Delivery of small parcels
      • Aerial imagery gathering of earth’s morphology

LOCALIZED BEYOND VISUAL LINE-OF-SIGHT FLIGHTS

BVLOS flights also include bypassing buildings, human or natural structures, as well as operations in “follow me” mode where the pilot is no longer able to maintain visual Line-of-sight with his RPA for some time, although it is still nearby.

The dronautic industry has been asking Transport Canada for several times to consider these manoeuvres as advanced operations. In April 2020, Transport Canada finally introduced the concept of “localized” BVLOS operations in order to regulate them.

Dronetechnic is proud to offer you the very first training in the country preparing you to safely carry out these operations.

Complementary Training

Restricted Operator Certificate (Aeronautical Qualification)

We develop your skills as a radio operator and prepare you to pass the exam of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED).

Visual Observer Detect and Avoid (VODAA)

Transport Canada requires BVLOS VODAA’s crew members to have at least 20 hours of experience as visual observers, including two hours in a position away from the pilot-in-command. Dronetechnic offers you VODAA training to qualify you to be part of a BVLOS crew in this function.

YOUR TRAINER

Michel lizotte

Chief Instructor / CEO

An aircraft pilot since the age of 18, Michel is a pioneer in the development of serious training in small drone operations in Quebec.

He is among the first holders of a Flight Review annotation in Canada. He has trained hundreds of aspiring pilots in the field, in the classroom, in the workplace, online, in French and in English.

In April 2021, he was granted the first-ever permission by Transport Canada to train students in operations beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) and the first to operate a training site located so close to Montreal’s major international airports. In May 2023 DroneTechnic obtained authorization by the Minister to provide BVLOS trainings not only nearby Montreal, but across Canada (National SFOC).

An examiner for ISED and holding a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Michel is widely regarded as one of the best instructors in Quebec, having trained pilots from the Canadian Space Agency, Air Canada, NRC, SQ, Radio-Canada, Hydro-Québec and major Quebec universities. He has contributed to the improvement of the procedures of several companies operating drones as well as Transport Canada documents, regulations and exams.

Michel is a dynamic teacher, friendly, fun, with multiple anecdotes to tell. Students love having him in front of them in class … and especially next to them during outdoor training.
